redesign poster

img_0034.JPG

The picture above was the original poster I edited.

I didn’t want to change top much of the persons original design and idea so based on the designers color and style I made some little changes.

I used analogous colors for this poster. I kind of changed the whole arangement of this poster by lining up the words and making it a bit more organized. Also on the right half of the original poster it was introducing the history of the model T so on the bottom of the new poster I thought I could do something like the history time frame we often see in historical books.

Different Color Invitations

Category: information design

I used two sets of analogous colors for my previous invitation so I thought I’ll do another one with only one set of color.

The others are monochromatic and complementary colors.

I used a lot of pink-ish colors so in the end I did another monochromatic one with purple as the main color.

DOTTI

By using FontStruct I have created these 26 alphebetical letters.

I think this time my letters are more organized however I believe there are still some letters that may be changed in some other way.

I tried my best to follow the pattern. I put all small dots to the right and under each big dots.
Some of you may have noticed already that I have made two Rs. The original one was actually the one on the right, but later on after I made the X and Zs I found that there are also other ways to make the oblique lines. So I went back to my R and made another one. I’m not sure which looks better though, so I decided to post both and have others give me their suggestion.

I think one of the things I did really well was that I kept all the width and height and the middle point of all letters the same, which became really challenging for some letters, especially letters like R, X and Z.

reflection

Category: information design

Going back to the alphebetical letters I made last Thursday, my letters seems really messy and random.

Also I think my font isn’t really creative as Andrew also pointed out he thinks what I designed seems fimiliar.

After a weekend, while I have been paying attention to what kind of fonts are there I’ve also been thinking  of how to improve my font and what other fonts I can design.

As I mentioned in my previous article, the “half-circles” should be more in order and equaly drawn.

I have noticed that in the program we’re using, there are also tools that can help you draw clouds. So I think I can use those tools in order to make my font look better!

I decided to draw my font instead of using the tools in illustrator to change the fonts that are already designed.

My first thought was to design a font that has the feeling of the cloud.  So I started drawing cloudy letters but instead I feel it turned out to have a different feeling. Feelings like it may probably also be used in a ghost story too since the letters seem like they are floating!

I believe when I’m more familiar to the tools in Adobe Illustration, I would have the ability to improve my font by making the “half-circles” in those letters rounder and more equality spread.
