First of all I’d like to share this picture I found when I was searching up for nice information graphics. I believe most of us have realized that Apple has been a huge market in the world recently. However, have you ever wondered how this has happened? It certainly did not happen by accident. Not untill 2005, which is only 3 years from now, Apple had their first Ipod and PC product. It has also broaden its market internationally.

According to this graph, it represents the purchases of each products by different maket level. It also analysis each products’ type and quality.  Therefore, it shows how Apple managed their marketing. They produced different products for all market, so it is highly accepted by all. And that is why Apple has became so successful today.

However, when I first saw this graph I wasn’t really sure about what it’s trying to represent. It might be my personal understanding problems but it spent me quite a while to understand this graph. Less words and more picutes would probably make this information clearer. This is definitely a well drawn graph, but I feel it could be less crowded. I would like to make changes to this graph. Although I’m not really sure how this graph could be made better but this is certainly something to be discussed with everyone.

What I Found Interesting !

February 18th, 2008 | Category: information design

From “Gapminder” there’s this other link to this website called “Space Syntax”

Quoting from its front page, here’s a little introduction about what this website provides: “Space Syntax provides a unique, evidence based approach to the planning and design of buildings and cities. Our focus is the creation of environments which are socially and economically successful.”

I’ve never noticed or realized that different kinds of building or different designs of the building will actually have any correlations between all kinds of crime. I found some interesting graphs that represent it. You might still be a bit confused about what I’m talking about, but lets see the graphs first.

I like this one the best out of all! It is the distribution of all crime in  a west midland town in the UK. So as you can see the highest concentration of crime is one the top right in the map. Different colors also represent different kinds of crime which is explained in the left part of that information.
